As a couple they care for the Gesha trees throughout the year. Their small farm – Finca Pedregal– is situated 1,800 meters above sea level in the lush hills of San Ignacio. Thoughtfully tending to the coffee's needs together leads to a perfectly kept farm with healthy soil, well established trees with high quality fruit. Maximiliano’s background as an agronomist contributes a depth of knowledge gained from farmers – both their successes and their failures – throughout the region, adding a scientific basis for their farming decisions. These combine to grow some of Peru’s best coffees.
At harvest, they are joined by six pickers or recolectores, selecting only the ripest cherries. The cherries are held in tanks before washing. The coffee is then dried on raised beds under a covered solar drier.
Garmas Gesha balances our favorite delicate notes of varietal with the depth of flavor we’ve grown to cherish from Northern Peru. The warmth of Esperanza and Maxi show up in this coffee too. In the cup, we taste rich candied orange, an elegant honeysuckle florality and a velvety mango sweetness.
