General
Let’s put it this way. One of our founders took out a student loan for the deposit on the Probat. On day one, we literally bought one bag, sold it and re-invested that into Metric and that's been our approach ever since 2013. Our company is 100% independently owned, which means we focus on what matters most—coffee and people.
We strive to work with and buy directly from our partners at origin. We visit farms, mills and labs to gain a better understanding of where our product comes from before we commit to bigger volumes, and we don't book coffee that we are not directly invested in. We work primarily with two importers that we consider valued partners in the supply chain. They offer services such as logistics and financing, which are valuable for effectively securing contracts and managing insurance. Ultimately, we seek to make sure that every person in our supply chain has a seat at the table. We expect the same level of transparency from our import and export partners as we do from the farmers we work with. We also seek to provide that transparency to everyone involved. Trust and respect are essential to our relationships.
We pay producers two ways: with direct cash payments and/or through financing from the importer.
Our approach to coffee prices is contingent on two things—quality and sustainability. We never haggle with producers, and we have no plans to start.
Heck no.
That’s like asking us,- “Which one is your favorite child?” Get out of here :)
We love collaborations and have myriad options for developing each collaboration in a fun and unique way.
